1. Who is this blog for?

For my girlies. The photographers, creatives, and entrepreneurs who want their brand to feel intentional and elevated. Who want to feel bad-ass and slightly rebellious. If you are reading this, you are my ideal reader. I can already tell you care about aesthetics, your brand, and that you love to learn. Did we just become best friends?

2. What kind of content do you share on The Shay K Edit?

Photography & Marketing education. Sometimes just photography education, but mostly real-world marketing strategy and brand storytelling. If you want actionable tips without the fluff, this is your spot.

3. What gear do you use for photography and content creation?

I am rarely seen without my Canon r6, Canon 24-70mm 2.8 L lens. And my iPhone 15 Pro Max for content creation :) For content, I use DJI mics. Lightroom is my main editing tool. But I always emphasize this: your eye matters more than your equipment.

4. How do you stay up-to-date with marketing trends?

Besides doom scrolling, I focus on my marketing courses at UVU and test certain strategies on my own platform. 

5. Why do you mix photography content with marketing strategy?

Because in 2025, and in Utah, being a “good photographer” isn’t enough. With how many photographers we have, it is more important than ever to find what makes you stand out. Marketing is how you get the right clients to actually see your art — and love it. I bridge the gap between creativity and business.

6. What makes Shay K Photography different?

Long story short, I don’t try so hard to be different. Everyone and their dog is a photographer. 

I learned through my marketing courses to be an honest storyteller. Once you find your story, you stand out.
